The Lok Sabha, constitutionally the House of the People, is the lower house of India's bicameral Parliament. As per the provision of Article 79 of Indian Constitution, the House of the People, the Lok Sabha is the lower house of the parliament. Lok Sabha is composed of representatives of the people chosen by direct election on the basis of the adult suffrage.The current speaker of Lok Sabha is Om Birla form the Bhartiya JantaParty. The maximum strength of the House envisaged by the Constitution is 552 and the leader of Lok Sabha is the Prime Minister, Mr. NarendraDamodardas Modi as the current leader of Lok Sabha.
“The controversial Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 (AFSPA) and its relevance in present-day Indian democracy with special emphasis on regional stability in North East” is the agenda in hand for the MPs to deliberate upon and debate whether it is still a necessity to maintain national security or just a shield for absolute power? The agenda that we have, has been one of the most controversial topics of Indian History, an Act which contradicts its purpose, or maybe it is just a law that’s better shaped the nation’s security, well, it is up to all of you to work together and figure out what the reality behind it is.
Pushing your minds past your limits and deliberating over excruciating issues of national Interest is what the Executive Board expects the members to indulge in. Dynamic and intense sessions involving the needs and demands of the people, concerns of national security and justifications to every statement should be addressed with utmost clarity. Not just an environment to debate but also one to find real-life solutions. This study guide is just an opening to the world of research, it is rather a document to direct your research, clarify the agenda, and declare the needs of the committee.
